ASTON MARTIN DB6
From 1951 - 1973, the inline 6 cylinder engine was the mainstay of the Aston
range. The first 2.6 litre engines were based on a W.O. Bentley design,
originally commissioned by Lagonda. Progressively developed and
enlarged, the last was produced in 1959 measuring 2.9 litres. It was already
by this time superceded by a Tadek Marek designed 3.7 litre, twin overhead
camshaft, all-alloy unit in 1958 making its production debut with the new
DB4 model. This engine also saw substantial development, its final form
being the triple-carbureted 4.0 litre, rated at 282 bhp in standard form.

The DB6 is the most advanced and refined of the range which was launched
with the iconic DB4, and the most capable and comfortable GT car of its era.
A mere 1327 examples of the DB6 Coupe were built.

Following on from the phenomenal success of the DB5, the DB6 first
entered production in 1965 and was to run well into 1970, being produced
side-by-side with the DBS at the Newport Pagnell factory. The DB6 bodywork
had a new ‘Kamm-tail’ design, offering improved aerodynamics on an
extended wheelbase and also revised quarter windows and a higher rear
roof line to finally accommodate back seat passengers.

DB6/3365/L was ex-factory 5th March 1968, and delivered to its first
owner, Prof. Dr. Ing E.H. Heinrich Nordhoff, of Wolfsburg, Germany, the
Chairman of Volkswagen GmbH. It was until recently in the long term
collection of well-known Aston collector Wolfgang Freidrichs.

The abundant documentation included with the car indicates that it had
remained in Germany until its 2005 export to the US. Subject to a
comprehensive restoration in 1986, the extensive panelwork is
documented with photographs.

Finished in handsome black-on-black, and having been maintained by
Hamburg-based Aston specialists, the DB6 today is presented in excellent
cosmetic and mechanical condition, requiring nothing to drive and enjoy all
summer. The original build sheet, correct owners’ handbook, workshop
manual and jack are included with the car.
