| COMPLETE RESTORATION TO 'VANTAGE' SPEC 4.2 LITRE TRIPLE CARB UPGRADE OVERDRIVE FULL OWNERSHIP HISTORY DB4/489/L As a Series II, Vantage-spec car this superb DB4 features a unique combination of the best attributes of the model: Vantage body configuration (closed headlights, a la DB4GT) Tall bonnet scoop; Cathedral tail lights Triple carburetors, hi compression engine (uprated to 4.2L), Harvey Bailey handling kit, Electronic overdrive 489/L is an original LHD California car, sold new to actor Robert Mitchum. It remained in California until it was imported to the UK in the early 90s whereupon a total restoration was commissioned under the supervision of Radford Coachworks. All major work was completed by known marque specialists including nearly 500 hours of chassis refurbishment and panelwork at Bodylines UK. The restoration is fully documented with complete service records since and full ownership history from new. With approx. 15K miles since restoration completed 10 years ago the car was used for a number of European tour and road rally events, and competed in the exhiliarating Tour de Espana in the hands of its then German owner. Subsequent to his death I had the opportunity to purchase it in Europe last year and have re-imported it to the States (Boston area). Stunningly attractive in Cumberland Grey with Parchment glove leather trim and Black carpets, the car is in excellent condition overall (2). The strong points are body, paint and chassis, with a powerful, willing engine (perfect oil pressure). The interior is complete and unmarked, with a few small niggles, and the engine bay needs further detailing for show. New Vredestein radials have been fitted. 489/L represents a rare and possibly unique opportunity to own a DB4 which combines the best styling and performance features of this iconic Aston model. ***SOLD*** CHRISTIES - PARIS RETROMOBILE FEBRURARY 2005 $180,000 C0NTACT DON ROSE 617.513.0388 BACKGROUND ON THE ASTON MARTIN DB4 MORE ASTON MARTINS AND FINE MOTORCARS HOME |
