THIS GENUINE 3-OWNER LHD ASTON HAS INCREDIBLE CHARM
From the vast array of vintage dash plaques to the Air Guide aircraft tachometer, it
exhibits its unique history and patina. Substantial restoration has just been
completed, with a careful eye towards preservation of all its original character and
period modifications.

Sold new in California, it was delivered on November 28, 1957 to Robert L. Pye, M.
D. of Woodland.  Dr Pye was an obviously enthusiastic owner, campaigning it in all
manner of sportscar and road races, hillclimbs, rallies and even autocross. It is an
early MkIII, indicated by the tail light configuration, but benefits from the front disc
brakes added during the car’s production run. Although 1363 languished in its
later years, it was sold on only in 1987 to Mr. Steve Warren of North Hollywood, the
documented 2nd owner.  The car remained in California until 1994 when it was
acquired noted enthusiast Robert Daly of Massachusetts, who commissioned its
eventual renovation.

At some point during its period racing history 1363 was upgraded with a DB3S
cylinder head, intake, and exhaust manifolds (possibly from DB3S/112) and triple
40DCO Weber carburetors. The head and intake are fitted to the car today.

Respected marque specialists in New England (Tim Beachboard of Phoenix
Service) have recently concluded extensive chassis refurbishment and a
comprehensive mechanical servicing.

WORK RECENTLY COMPLETED:

All brake and clutch hydraulics rebuilt. S.S. pistons in calipers. All brake and fuel
lines replaced with Kunifer. Handbrake mechanism rebuilt. Powder coated pedal
cluster with new gaiters.

Steering gearbox rebuilt and powder coated. New seals and gaiter. All new tie rod
ends, king pins, bushings, eccentric pins and bushes, and seals. Cleaned and
serviced needle bearings.  New wheel bearings and seal. Powder coat suspension
arms, spindles, etc. Cleaned and detailed front suspension cross member and clear
coated. Replaced all front suspension seals.

Front and rear shocks rebuilt.

Rebuilt carburetors, distributor, water pump, starter, and generator. Replaced
clutch, throw out bearing, oil flex line, motor mounts and u-joints.

Stripped firewall and front frame to bare metal. All epoxy painted. Rebuilt and
detailed everything under the bonnet.

Completely stripped interior. Painted entire frame and inside of rockers.
Straightened and resealed all interior panels, floorboards, etc. Cleaned and polished
dashboard gauges inside and out.

Fitted new Langford twin stainless steel exhaust system.

New/show chrome on bumpers, grille, body moulding and headlamp rings.

Rebuilt wire wheels (fitted w/ Firestone Cavalinos).

The car was resprayed about 10 years ago in attractive Dubonnet. Since then some
minor flaws have appeared along with a few stone chips and 3 small acorn dings
(!). Visually it remains very presentable with a nice patina. Analysis of the
restoration photographs indicates that there was never major damage to 1363
(surprisingly!) – and all dents and scrapes were repaired in original metalwork. A
nice period modification is the driving lamps frenched into the grille with beaded
and chromed edges. Overall it is rock-solid with an arrow-straight structure and
body, all entirely consistent with its dry-climate history.

The interior is essentially all that is left to be done for show purposes. The complete
original seat material, door panels and trim are included with the car, but are
suitable for patterns only as they suffered substantially in the desert sun. However
it is completely assembled and operational with dash, guages, glass and hardware
installed along with servicable seating. Pefect as is for vintage racing events where
it would be extremely competitive.
